Carol Jean Boyd, 92, of Geneseo, IL, passed away on December 20, 2025, at Hillcrest Home-Geneseo. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2025, at First Lutheran Church, Geneseo. Reverend Laura Kamprath will officiate. A memorial visitation will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Inurnment to be held at Grandview Cemetery, rural Geneseo. Vandemore Funeral Homes & Crematory – Geneseo Chapel will be assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Lutheran Church, 114 E. Main Street, Geneseo, IL, 61254.
Carol was born on May 7, 1933, in Geneseo, Illinois, to Ernest and Helen (Withrow) Floto. On March 16, 1952, she married Warren Boyd, who preceded her in death.
A faithful member of First Lutheran Church, Carol joyfully sang in the choir and devoted many years to the “Cover Girls” quilting group, creating quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She was an accomplished master gardener with the Geneseo Gardening Club and an enthusiastic member of the Quad City African Violet Society.
Those left to cherish her memory are children, Roger (Kim Reynolds) Boyd of Geneseo, Rick (Elaine) Boyd of Monmouth, Sharon Buser-Boyd of Galesburg, Becky (Mike) Wachtel of Lacona, IA, Janet (Jim) Larson of Geneseo, and Colleen (Matt) Yaeger of Bollingbrook; brother, John Floto of North Carolina; sister, Gail Edwards of East Moline; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Helen Floto; husband, Warren Boyd; brothers, Bill and Loren Floto; son-in-law, Werner Buser-Boyd; and sisters-in-law, Odetta Thompson and Beverly Chrisop.
