The Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry is hosting several events for the community, including:
-Tuesday, Feb. 21, (tomorrow) at 10 a.m. – Each month dietitians from Hammond-Henry Hospital present classes about healthy eating and cooking in the new Matthew 25 Center at the Food Pantry. The class on Feb. 21 (tomorrow) focuses on “Heart Health.”
Another class, “Fuel for the Future,” about healthy cooking and eating is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7 at the food pantry.
The dietitians provide information about healthy eating, cooking, living a healthy lifestyle and they share a sample of a healthy food item to try and recipe.
The class is free and open to the public.
-Nurses from Unity Point provide a food care clinic at the Food Pantry twice each month. They soak feet, trim and file toenails, help with ingrown toenails, and give a light massage with lotion for a total cost of $37.
Guests of the Food Pantry may receive voucher for these services. Anyone interested in scheduling an appointment should call the Food Pantry at 309-944-3165.
-Stacey Brown from Bridgeway, Inc. will give a presentation about mental health for the community at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 10, in the Matthew 25 Center at the Food Pantry.
Brown will provide information on mental health, resources, how to get help, and how to help others.
The presentation is free and open to the public.
