NOLAN PAXTON and his wife Sara have a daughter Nina.  Paxton is a real estate agent.  When asked about his political experience, he said, “I do not have a political background and this is a non-partisan election.  Running for the school board is not a political endeavor for me; it is about the children and their education. I am a Geneseo High School Graduate and earned a Bachelors of Science in Crop Sciences from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana and a Minor in Animal Sciences from the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana.

WHY ARE YOU RUNNING FOR SCHOOL BOARD? – “My motivation to run for the school board is to ensure that the children of this community have the best education possible, while keeping that education free from distractions, nonsense, and governmental overreach.  Our parents and taxpayers need to be more engaged in the schools, and I intend to welcome those conversations and act as a voice to advocate for what Geneseo residents truly want and stand for.  Our school board  needs leaders that are willing to fight when the going gets tough and never let their guard down; that is exactly what I intend to do!”

WHAT ARE THE CHIEF ISSUES FACING THE SCHOOL DISTRICT AND WHAT WILL YOU DO TO HELP SOLVE THEM? – “Some of the obvious issues with our school district are that the parents and taxpayers are uninformed about the curriculum, they are limited from having input in the education system, and are not getting the transparency they deserve.  The school board should be ‘the voice’ that stands up and does what is right for Geneseo, IL; and the focus should not go any further than that.  Our education system here will continue to be thrown ‘curve balls’ that are not pertinent to reading, writing, and arithmetic, and I ‘WILL’ protect our children, parents, and taxpayers from the unknown ahead.”

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS – “I am first and foremost a Dad to a kindergartener, a lifelong resident of Geneseo, and an entrepreneurial businessman right here in this community.  I do not receive ongoing benefits from the State of Illinois, meaning that I have ZERO ties or interest to a third party that stands between the children and their education.  I have a child firsthand in the Geneseo School District, something that I feel is critical to understanding their needs.  My heart is in this for the children, my values resonate with this community, and I am the person for the job!  Thank you for your past, present, and continued support!”

Tomorrow we see comments from the last two candidates, Julie Robinson and Erin Schumacher.
