Geneseo Current
The nondenominational, student-led Bible studies for area youth in grades 6-12 will continue at Grace United Methodist Church in Geneseo. The first event was held in September with hopes in organizing a group to meet on a regular basis.
Those hopes were realized when those in attendance planned for future meetings. The next event will be Sunday, Oct. 15, beginning with students who want to help prepare dinner from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and a student-led Bible study to be held after the meal. All family members are welcome to join the group for the meal.
Sisters Molly and Janey Neumann have been instrumental in launching the youth program and the sisters said they are pleased with the results. Molly Neumann added, “A Bible discussion and activities have already built a small community within the group. We hope in the coming weeks to add to this program and learn about God together and these new connections.”
“We would like to see students of all ages talk about God and lead each other in a discipleship community. Our goal is to get a small group started that can grow in the coming months.”
All area youth are invited to the events which will be held on a regular basis on the third Sunday of each month at the church. Additional opportunities for the young people to serve the community will be offered at various dates. The service opportunities are a means for the high school students to earn hours toward Silver Cords. The silver honor cords are opportunities for students to be recognized by completing a specific number of hours of community service during their four years of high school.
