Hammond-Henry Hospital Board of Directors have announced by mutual agreement that Mark Kuhn is no longer the organization’s Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately.
David A. Shannon has been named interim CEO.
Board Chairperson Ann DeSmith said, “The Board of Hammond-Henry Hospital is pleased to welcome David A Shannon as interim CEO. Dave brings us three decades of hospital CEO and CFO expertise which will help us continue to strengthen our commitment to the sustained well-being of our patients, families, and communities.”
Shannon has served in interim and long-term executive positions with hospitals across the country, most recently serving as President and CEO for five years at Three Rivers Health in Michigan. Prior to Three Rivers, Shannon served as CEO at Jersey Shore Hospital in Hersey PA. He also held a 20-year position as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Director/CEO with Penobscot Valley Hospital in Maine.
Shannon is a hospital executive with QHR Health, which provides Hammond-Henry Hospital with hospital operations consulting services.
The board of directors is seeking other candidates to fill the full-time position.
Information received from Hammond-Henry states, “Through his (Shannon’s) partnership, HHH has been able to remain an independent healthcare provider with education and resources needed to provide the best in local healthcare.
The hospital news release also states that in November 2022, HHH was named one of the top 10-percent of all critical access hospitals in the country, gaining the title of a high-achieving HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) hospital. Additionally, HHH holds a five-star quality rating for patient experience from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and was recently recognized by the Illinois Critical Access Hospital Network (CAHN) for its ongoing commitment to exceptional quality of care.
