Families with children in kindergarten through third grade are invited to a “Teddy Bear Clinic,” planned from 4:30 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 30, at Hammond-Henry Hospital.

Tours will begin at the north entrance of the hospital.

Hospital staff is hosting the event in an effort to:

-Help children understand how healthcare professionals take care of people.
  -Ease fears about hospitalization.
-Promote awareness of healthcare professions.

Information received from Hammond-Henry staff states that the children should bring their own stuffed animals and hospital staff will provide “treatments” for their animals.  The animal might get stitches or have a bandage or cast applied.

The children will learn about how the hospital can help them if they are sick or have an injury.  They also will learn about how they can stay healthy and other safety measures such as washing their hands and being safe in their world.

Siblings of other ages, other that those in kindergarten through third grade, also are welcome to attend the clinic.  There is no cost for the event and all that is required is that the child bring their own stuffed animal.
