A day after their season opening loss to Washington, the Maple Leafs soccer team travelled to Port Byron and defeated the host Rams 6-2. Scoring for GHS were Alex Snyder, Dominic Ritter, Jaxon Ernst, Carson Peters, Cedric Kehoe, & Josiah Trujano. The win brings the Leafs overall record to 1-1. In JV action, Geneseo shut out the Rams 2-0. Western Big 6 play begins on Tuesday as the Leafs will travel to Rock Island.

Lady Leafs Defeat Galesburg, Season Ends At The Hands Of PND
Emilia Schmitt Makes A Save During The Regional Championship Against Peoria Notre Dame
The Lady Leafs opened the post season on Tuesday May 14 at the GHS pitch with a resounding 7-0 victory over Galesburg in the IHSA 2A Regional Semifinals. Ava DeSplinter, Mia Kelly, & Caiya Holke each added two goals with Lily Taylor adding one. The #4 seeded Leafs advanced to face top seed and perennial power Peoria Notre Dame on Friday May 17. A DeSplinter goal midway through the first period gave GHS a 1-0 lead but the Lady Irish rallied to tie the game by intermission. PND took control in the second half on their way to a 6-2 victory to win the regional title. The Lady Leafs finish the season 9-10 overall.

The Lady Leafs soccer team traveled to the University Of Iowa Soccer Complex on Tuesday May 7th where they faced Johnston, IA in the regular season finale. The Dragons defeated the Lady Leafs 5-0. GHS wraps up the regular season with an 8-9 overall record and 4-3 in conference play. Next Up: IHSA 2A Regional at the GHS pitch on Tuesday May 14 (7:00pm) as the #4 seeded Lady Leafs will take on #6 Galesburg. GHS defeated the Streaks 7-0 earlier in the season. The Lady Leafs dropped a tough 5-1 contest at WB6 leading Quincy on Tuesday April 23 but rebounded with a solid performance in the Tournament of Champions at the TBK Bank Sports Complex. On a rain soaked Friday, Mia Kelly and Hanna Kreiner each scored in the Leafs shutout win over the Redhawks of Chicago Marist. The following day, GHS rallied from a two goal halftime deficit to defeat Vel Phillips Memorial (Madison, WI) in a 5-4 penalty shoot-out. Ava DeSplinter scored both regulation goals in the rally and Addison Espe scored the shoot-out game winner. Next Up: Rock Island at home for Senior Night (6:00pm).

The 2024 Lady Leaf soccer team competed in the 22nd Annual BODYARMOR Girls Soccer Series On Saturday April 13 in Waukegan. Katlyn Seaman and Ava DeSplinter each scored first half goals to give GHS a 2-0 halftime lead. The unbeaten Warriors however rallied for three second half goals to earn the 3-2 win over the Lady Leafs. Later in the day, Rockford Boylan Catholic defeated GHS 3-0. A slugfest at the GHS pitch on Thursday March 28 saw UTHS rally from a 1-0 halftime deficit to tie the Lady Leafs 1-1. The visiting Panthers however won out 4-3 on penalty kicks to remain undefeated on the season while GHS fell to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
