Award winners in RutabagA’s fourth Annual Geneseo Fine Art Exhibit Include: Best of Show – Pauline Swanson Memorial Award to Zoe Petersen, Atkinson, for her entry, “Burning Horses;” second place – Shirley Burnett Memorial Award to Marinn Cisna, Galva, for her entry, “Sunset Kitty;”’ and third place – Dick Carlson Memorial Award to Neal Zahn, Colona, for his entry, “Milk Chocolate Moon Jar.”
Those awards and others recently were presented at The Cellar in Geneseo, where entries will remain on display through Sunday, May 24. Entries also will be on display at the RutabagA Gallery, 108 North State St., in downtown Geneseo. RutabagA Gallery is open from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday, and The Cellar is open from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday and from 5 to 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

There were 108 entries in this year’s competition, with 13 high school art students participating from local high school and from home-schooled students.
Robert Lipnick of the Quad Cities served as juror for the event.
Other awards include the 3-Dimensional Award presented to Mike Lawrence, Rock Island, for his entry, “Ode to Brunelleschi;” the Photography Award to Kathy Williams, Waterloo, Iowa, for her entry, “That’s My Girl,” and Honorable Mentions to Jamie Sullivan, Geneseo, for her work, “Summer Harvest,” Greg Dickson, Clinton, Iowa, for his piece, “Oreo Golden – Gluten Free,” and Marie Skiles, Colona, for her piece, “Friends.”
The Youth Excellence – First Place went to Jackson Parchert, Rock Island, for his entry, “Brain Fog;” Youth Excellence – Second Award to Aryanna Stahr, Andalusia, for her work, “Real Eyes Realize Real Lives;” Youth Honorable Mention 1 and 2 went to Madison Reade, Geneseo, for her piece, “Mary’s Sorrow,” and to Landon Theim, Illinois City, for his entry, “Cannonball.”
