The Henry County Farm Bureau will host its fifth annual "Safety Starts With You" community event on Wednesday, July 8, offering families an opportunity to learn practical safety skills through hands-on demonstrations, interactive exhibits, and family-friendly activities.
The free event will take place from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Central Bank Pavilion, 218 N. State Street in Geneseo, and is open to the public.
Organizers say the event is designed to promote safety awareness while providing educational resources for people of all ages.
Attendees will have the opportunity to explore exhibits focused on grain bin safety and rescue, CPR training, "Stop the Bleed" emergency response techniques, mental health resources, agricultural equipment safety, and overall health and wellness.
Families can also enjoy a variety of activities throughout the evening, including a "Touch a Tractor" experience, children's activities, giveaways, and informational displays from local organizations and safety professionals.
Returning this year is WQAD's "The Beast," the television station's mobile weather and community outreach vehicle, which has become a popular attraction at community events across the region.
Food vendors and local restaurants will also be on site.
The event is hosted by the Henry County Farm Bureau Health and Safety Committee and aims to provide practical information that can help prevent accidents and improve emergency preparedness both at home and on the farm.
Following the event, visitors are encouraged to stay for the Central Bank Concert Series, which will feature Angela Meyer from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Organizers say the combination of safety education, family activities, food, and live music makes the evening a unique community event.
