GENESEO, Ill. — Approximately 100 people gathered in Geneseo on Saturday, October 17, as part of the nationwide No Kings protest movement.
The local demonstration coincided with protests across the United States organized under the No Kings banner, a movement opposing what participants describe as authoritarianism and the concentration of executive power.
The Geneseo gathering brought the national protest movement to Henry County, giving local residents an opportunity to participate in a coordinated day of political demonstrations.
This year's nationwide event, called “No Kings: Vote Early,” placed particular emphasis on voter participation ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Organizers encouraged Americans to vote early, understand their voting options and participate in the electoral process.
Demonstrations and voter outreach events took place in communities across all 50 states, including major cities such as Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Chicago. Events ranged from traditional protests to smaller gatherings focused on voting rights and election participation.
