Geneseo, IL - Following the Committee Meeting held on the evening of March 24, 2026, the City of Geneseo is pleased to announce that the City Council has provided formal direction to maintain the Geneseo Farmer’s Market at its current location on Pearl Street in the City Park. A formal licensing agreement with the Market Coordinator will be developed and reviewed at a future meeting.
The Council’s decision comes after a review of concepts to relocate the market to the Downtown Business District. While the Council carefully considered the ideas presented for a downtown move, the overwhelming feedback from residents, vendors, and community members favored keeping the market in its traditional park setting.
"Our goal is always to serve the best interests of our residents and local businesses," City Administrator, Brandon Maeglin stated. "The community spoke clearly regarding their preference for the City Park location, and we are happy to move forward with that direction."
The City of Geneseo remains committed to listening to new ideas and innovative concepts that aim to make our community a premier place to live, work, and visit.
