Early Voting Underway in Henry County for Nov. 3 Midterm Election

Henry County voters who want to cast their ballots ahead of the Nov. 3 midterm election can now do so, with early voting officially underway at the Henry County Clerk’s Office.

Early voting began Thursday, Sept. 24, the first day authorized election authorities across Illinois could offer early voting for the general election. Henry County voters can cast an early ballot at the Henry County Clerk’s Office, 307 W. Center St. in Cambridge. The office is normally open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The county will also offer three Saturday opportunities for voters who cannot make it during regular weekday hours. The Clerk’s Office will be open for early voting from 8 a.m. to noon on Oct. 17, Oct. 24 and Oct. 31. Early voting at the Clerk’s Office continues through Monday, Nov. 2.

Sept. 24 also marked the first day Henry County could begin mailing ballots to registered voters who have requested to vote by mail.

Illinois voters do not need to provide a reason to vote by mail. Henry County voters can apply for a mail ballot through the County Clerk’s Office, and Oct. 29 is the deadline for the office to receive an application and mail a ballot to a voter.

Completed vote-by-mail ballots can be returned by mail, delivered in person to the Clerk’s Office, or placed in the secure drop box inside the front entrance of the Henry County Courthouse. Ballots returned through the mail must be postmarked by midnight on Election Day.

The deadline for voters who still need to register or change an address through the Henry County election authority is Oct. 6. Online voter registration through the Illinois State Board of Elections remains available through Oct. 18.

Grace-period registration begins Oct. 7 at the Henry County Clerk’s Office. During the grace period, an eligible resident who has lived in the precinct for at least 30 days can register, while an already-registered voter can update an address. In either case, the voter must also cast a ballot at the Clerk’s Office at that time.

Grace-period voting continues through Election Day. On Nov. 3, grace-period registration and voting will be available at the Henry County Courthouse from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026, with polling places open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
