For the second consecutive year, Geneseo High School senior Eric States has claimed the championship title in the GHS Ping Pong Tournament.
States was the winner in the recent GHS Invitational Ping Pong Tournament, held at Geneseo High School, a title he has achieved for the last two years, having lost in his sophomore year to GHS instructor Steve Brucher.
States joined the Ping Pong Club in his sophomore year, the same year he was named club president, and he said, “I have always liked playing ping pong, and I seem to have a knack for it. My Dad and I play in our basement and it’s always a duel.”
“I lost to Mr. Brucher in my sophomore year, but have beat him in my junior and senior years.
The recent Ping Pong Tournament is a double elimination-style tournament and it’s always fun.
In addition to States, other tournament players, in the photo, are, from left, Reyhan Onder, Erin Bowers, Natalie Aukee, States, Mathew Johnson, Tyler Holtzen, Owen Parker, Ethan Brown, Adam Johnson and Carter French.
