Geneseo Current
Again, this summer the Geneseo Historical Museum is hosting Stepping Through History – “Legends and Landmarks” walking tours.
The original walking tours, which begin and end at 118 East 1st St., Geneseo, take guests through the historical business district, and the walking tours added this year, which begin and end at the museum, will highlight the commerce and folklore around the City Park.
The walking tours are a unique blend of storytelling, sightseeing, and local lore that brings Geneseo’s rich heritage to life. Led by Steve Kastorff, people on the tour will visit iconic landmarks, hidden gems, and architectural marvels, each with its own story to tell.
Both options of tours are scheduled for Wednesday, May 27; Thursday, May 28; Friday, May 29; Wednesday, June 24; Thursday, June 25; Friday, June 26; Wednesday, July 15; Thursday, July 16; and Friday, July 17. Tour times are 10 to 11 a.m. and from 5 to 6 p.m. Weather permitting. For more information on booking a tour, visit the museum website – geneseohistory.com or call the museum at 309-944-3043.
This year, there is another option for those who do not feel up to the walking.
The Historical Museum is offering Armchair Walking Tours of “Legends & Landmarks.” The virtual tours of landmarks and stories of Geneseo in an earlier time are scheduled for 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5, and at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 6, at the museum. Armchair seating is limited, and reservations should be made by calling the museum at 309-944-3043.
There is no charge for the tours, although free will donations are accepted for the Geneseo Historical Museum.
