The Geneseo Park District has added an Aquatic Wheelchair to be used at the John & Carla Edwards Aquatic Center.
The Park District Foundation received a grant from Abilities Plus Endowment Fund to fully fund the purchase of the aquatic wheelchair and cost of the wheelchair is $953.39.
According to information received from Park District staff, the wheelchair transports and mobilizes individuals who cannot walk due to injury, illness or disability…”The Geneseo Park District is excited to offer this amenity to our Aquatic Center users. We currently have two aquatic lifts for accessibility, but this will add another dimension for our users.”
The wheelchair is available this last weekend of the pool season and will be available to use all next year. Anyone who would like to utilize the wheelchair is asked to visit the lifeguard office at the Aquatic Center and talk to the pool staff for assistance.
The Geneseo Park District John & Carla Edwards Aquatic Center is open seasonally from Memorial Day – August with free pre and post season splash pad hours. For more information about the Aquatic Center, visit http://www.geneseoparkdistrict.org/aquatic-center or contact the Geneseo Community Center at 309-944-5695.
