Geneseo, IL - On Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 4:33 PM, a 911 call was received indicating there was a stabbing outside of 100 Bestor Drive with a female victim and a male suspect.

Geneseo Police Officers and Henry County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the scene and surrounding area where one female victim was located, treated on scene by Geneseo EMS and transported to an area hospital. Officers and Deputies learned of the last known area of travel on foot by the suspect. Officers and Deputies were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody without incident.

The suspect, Ilir Ilemi, age 31, was transported to an area hospital for previous medical issues and charges are pending review by the Henry County States Attorney’s Office.

After being released from the hospital, the suspect was interviewed by Investigators at the Geneseo Police Department. He was then transported to the Henry County Jail for the offenses of Attempted Murder and Aggravated Domestic Battery.
