Geneseo Current
The Geneseo brother and sister team of Abigail Wolf and her brother Kenneth Wolf will continue competing on the fifth segment of the Food Network’s “Baking Championship: Next Gen,” series, which will be televised at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 2.
The young culinary artists were in competition with eight other teams on the fourth episode, which aired on Monday, Jan. 26. One team is eliminated each week.
Theme for the Jan. 26th competition was “Puzzle Cakes,” and the young chefs were challenged to make one cake, cut out a piece of the cake, and decorate each piece to match each other’s personalities.
Each team was assigned a cake flavor and Abigail and Kenneth were tasked with a red velvet.
The duo created a beautiful, red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting. Abigail decorated the larger part with the Detroit Lions football team for Kenneth, and Kenneth decorated the smaller piece with hand weights and corn stalks, as Abigail likes to lift weights. She also drives the grain cart in the fall.
Their finished masterpiece was a hit with the judges, and they will be included in next week’s episode which features “Dessert Imposters.”
Their parents are Dan and Erica Wolf, and the family, which includes sister Lucy, live on a farm in Geneseo. The children are home-schooled.
When Erica Wolf was asked if either of the children talk about a culinary career, she replied, “Abigail has already started studying pastry and other culinary books on her own time. Once a week, she tries a new recipe.”
