The Geneseo High School Speech Team is mid-way through the competition season, and the team has competed at Rochelle, River Ridge and Rock Falls.
On Saturday, Jan. 28, the team will travel to Heyworth, for the beginning of the IHSA State Series with Regional competition on Feb. 4 at Spoon River High School.
Jeanne Brucher, who serves as team coach with Kathy Buysse, said, “This is a rebuilding year for the GHS Speech Team as there are more new speakers than returning speakers on this year’s squad.”
The nine students on the Speech Team compete in 11 events.
“While many students have earned individual awards at events this year, as a team Geneseo placed third at the River Ridge Invitational,” Brucher added.
