A group of young people at Grace United Methodist Church in Geneseo are reaching out to other area youth in grades 6-12 to invite them to a nondenominational, student-led Bible Study to be held Sunday, Sept. 17, in the church youth room.
The event begins with students who want to help prepare dinner from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. with a Bible study to be held after the meal. All family members are welcome to join the group for the meal.
Plans are to have the Sept. 17 event to be a time to plan for future youth Bible studies and other events.
In addition to the Bible studies and dinners, the young people will have an opportunity to participate in a variety of community service events, to be planned at the first Bible study at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17. The Bible study and meal are open to all Geneseo students in grades 6-12.

Two young people at Grace Church have been instrumental in helping plan the outreach to area youth. Molly and Janey Neumann, daughters of Landon and Sharon Neumann, and both students at Geneseo High School, said they have been hoping for this type of program at their church.
Their comments included, “The youth in our district can get caught up in their extracurricular activities. They need a religious outlet they can relate to leading to a Christian lifestyle that sticks.”
“We would like to see students of all ages talk about God and lead each other in a discipleship community. Our goal is to get a small group started that can grow in the coming months.”
