Hunter Lane Olson, 26, of Cambridge, IL, passed away on November 21, 2025, at his home. A memorial visitation will be held at Vandemore Funeral Home & Crematory - Geneseo Chapel on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Hunter was born in Galesburg, IL, on October 28, 1999, the son of Mike and Candace (Baughman) Mueller. He is also the son of Curtis Olson. He married Megan Underwood on January 13, 2022, and she survives. Hunter proudly served in the Illinois Army National Guard from 2017 to 2025. His most recent rank was as a Sergeant in the Illinois Army National Guard 404th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade D Co 1-178th Infantry Regiment. He was deployed in 2022 to Djibouti, Africa, with the 404th MEB as part of CJTF HOA in support of OEF. Hunter was highly decorated with numerous awards, too many to list them all.
He loved fishing, hunting, NASCAR, and collecting memorabilia. He was an avid Carolina Panthers and Iowa Hawkeyes fan. Hunter enjoyed spending time outdoors and being with his wife and children. He was a metal-head who enjoyed going to concerts, collecting guitars, and hanging out with his farm animals and dogs.
Those left to cherish his memory are parents, Candace (Mike) Mueller and Curtis Olson; wife, Megan Olson; children, Camdin and Veronica Olson; and siblings, Taylor and Tobi Olson.
He was preceded in death by his son, Corey James Olson, and another angel with wings, Grandma Bev, Grandma Mary, Grandma Marie, and Grandpa George.
