The former Hardee’s property in Geneseo is expected to get new life with two nationally known restaurant brands.
The City of Geneseo has confirmed that plans for the property call for a combination Jimmy John’s and Dunkin’ franchise at the former Hardee’s location.
The property sale has not yet been finalized, according to the city, but closing is expected this week.
The development would bring both a sandwich restaurant and coffee-and-doughnut shop to the site, adding two new restaurant options to Geneseo’s Interstate 80 commercial corridor.
Details about the project remain limited while the property transaction is being completed. An anticipated construction schedule and opening date have not yet been announced.
The former Hardee’s property has attracted attention since the restaurant closed, particularly because of its location in one of Geneseo’s primary commercial areas near the interstate.
Jimmy John’s specializes in sandwiches and currently operates locations throughout the Quad Cities and surrounding region. Dunkin’ offers coffee, espresso drinks, doughnuts, breakfast sandwiches, and other food and beverages.
The Geneseo project would combine the two franchises at the same property. Additional details about how the existing building will be renovated or configured for the two businesses have not yet been released.
