Kingswood Hosts Garage Sale Silent Auction to Benefit Operation Christmas Child

The two-day event will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 2, and from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3. The South Campus of Kingswood Church is located at 224 North State St., Geneseo.

Oct. 3 also is the annual State Street Market event in downtown Geneseo.

All proceeds from the garage sale-silent auction will be used for shipping costs for Operation Christmas Child showboxes, which is a $10 cost for each shoebox.

The goal is to raise $13,000 from the two-day sale to help with shipping costs.

Household items in good condition are being accepted for the sale and may be left at the rear door of the South Campus from 2 to 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25; from 8 to 10 a.m. and from 2 to 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26; from 8 to 11 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27; and from 8 to 10 a.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28,

A volunteer will be available during the drop-off items at the rear door of South Campus, and the committee has asked that items not be left at the door if no one is there.

Operation Christmas Child is an outreach of Samaritan Purse, an international Christian relief and evangelism organization. The non-profit organization specializes in meeting the critical needs of victims of war, poverty, disease and natural disaster, in order to demonstrate God’s love and share the Gospel.

The ministry uses the shoebox as a tool to open the door for the Gospel and make disciples of all tribes, tongues and nations. OCC started in the United Kingdom in 1990 as an outreach to Romanian Orphans and OCC began in North America in 1993.
