A longtime downtown commercial building with decades of local history may soon begin a new chapter.
Wayne Peterson, owner of JW's Shooting Parlor, recently purchased the commercial property at 201–205 N. State Street, adjacent to his business. The building was sold as a single commercial property.
Peterson said he intends to lease the space rather than expand his own business into the building.
"We are going to rent/lease it out," Peterson told The Geneseo Current in an email. "We think we already have tenants considering it."
While Peterson did not identify the prospective tenants or provide a timeline, he indicated discussions are already underway and that additional information will be shared once agreements are finalized.
The property occupies a prominent location in downtown Geneseo and has long been familiar to generations of residents. The 201 N. State Street storefront was home to Northside Rexall Drug for decades and has been documented at that location since at least 1962.
The Geneseo Current will continue to follow the project and provide an update once lease agreements are finalized and more information about the future tenants becomes available.
