he Rotary Club of Geneseo, Illinois announces that Zack Sullivan, Executive Director of the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce, has taken the helm at Club President in 2023-24. Sullivan’s term at Rotary President started on July 1, 2023.
Rotary International has over 1.4 million passionate individuals in over 46,000 clubs worldwide. Rotary is both an international organization and a local community leader. Together Rotary Clubs lead change in our own backyard, and across the world. Rotary International is noted for its global efforts to eradicate polio, and is widely credited for reducing polio cases by 99.9% since Rotary International’s first project to vaccinate children in the Philippines in 1979.
Locally in Geneseo, Rotary is known for leading community service projects, hosting community events such as the Geneseo Music Festival Queen Pageant and Maple City 4 Run, and offers multiple scholarships to graduating seniors at Geneseo High School. 2023 marks the Rotary Club of Geneseo’s 75th Anniversary.
“Many years ago, I earned a Rotary STRIVE Scholarship through the Rotary Club of Geneseo.” Sullivan said, having earned the scholarship as a GHS Graduate in 2000. “The scholarship I earned from Rotary opened the doors to higher education for me. With that scholarship, I was able to unlock my leadership potential in college and ultimately serve the Geneseo community in my capacity at the Geneseo Chamber. I firmly believe I would not be where I am today without this opportunity given to me by the Rotary Club of Geneseo twenty-three years ago.”
During his term as Rotary President in Geneseo, Sullivan has established a club goal to donate over 1,000 pounds of food to the Geneseo Atkinson Food Pantry by June 30, 2024. Additionally, Sullivan has announced a Membership Drive, working to encourage Geneseoans to consider joining Rotary to help make a difference in our community.
“A fellow Rotarian once told me that you can’t have fellowship with an empty chair. How very true that statement is. Involvement is the essence of leadership. We are looking for motivated members of the Geneseo community who are looking to make a positive impact in Geneseo. And this search begins immediately.”
All Geneseo Rotarians and potential Rotarians who may be interested in joining are invited to join the Geneseo Rotary Club at the Geneseo Country Club on Tuesday July 11, 2023 at noon for a luncheon. Information about the Rotary Club of Geneseo will be available, and a tour of the Geneseo Country Club will be available at 11:30am. If you are interested in attending this Rotary meeting, please email Zack Sullivan at zsullivan@geneseo.org.
