A local flower farm is preparing to trade colorful blooms for fresh evergreens this holiday season as Taylor & Co. transforms its property into a Christmas tree lot for the first time.

Beginning Thanksgiving weekend, November 27–29, the farm will welcome visitors to shop for fresh-cut Fraser fir Christmas trees, handmade wreaths, and seasonal decorations while enjoying a festive atmosphere centered around its signature red barn.

The idea has been several years in the making, inspired by the owners' vision of extending the farm's season beyond flowers and creating a new holiday tradition for local families.

“We have this beautiful space with our red barn as the backdrop, and I’ve always envisioned what it could look like filled with fresh Christmas trees, twinkle lights, and families enjoying the holiday season,” owner Taylor Meints shared.

Taylor & Co. has offered handmade Christmas wreaths for several years, making the addition of Christmas trees a natural expansion of its seasonal offerings.

The farm's fresh-cut Fraser fir trees will arrive from a Wisconsin tree farm, with most ranging from six to nine feet tall. A limited selection of larger trees, measuring 11 to 12 feet, will also be available. Prices will begin around $65, with larger trees priced accordingly.

In addition to Christmas trees, customers will be able to purchase fresh handmade wreaths and DIY porch pot kits featuring fresh evergreens and decorative accents. The kits will allow customers to create their own holiday arrangements using pots and planters at home.

But the owners hope the experience will offer more than a place to purchase holiday decorations.

Opening weekend will feature Christmas music, twinkle lights, hot cocoa, a fire where visitors can warm up, and a festive photo area near the barn.

“We want the experience to feel welcoming and relaxed,” Meints said. “Whether someone is picking out their family’s Christmas tree, shopping for a wreath, or just stopping by to enjoy a little Christmas cheer, we hope they’ll enjoy their visit.”

The Christmas tree lot will be open November 27–29 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day.

Because this is the farm's first season selling Christmas trees, additional operating dates will depend on remaining inventory. They anticipate opening the following weekend if trees are still available.

Updates regarding hours and tree availability will be shared through Taylor & Co.'s Facebook and Instagram pages.

For the Meints, the new venture is about bringing an old-fashioned holiday experience to Geneseo and giving families another opportunity to gather at the farm.

“There's something special about going out as a family to pick the perfect Christmas tree, and we'd love to create a setting where families can enjoy that tradition right here in Geneseo,” Taylor Meints said.

The farm has previously welcomed visitors for flower workshops and other gatherings, and the owners hope to build on those experiences by introducing a new seasonal tradition.

“We're starting small this year, but we're excited to see where it goes!”
