•There was healthy debate surrounding the Agenda Item 8.1 Motion to Discuss moving the Farmers Market downtown. City Council members engaged in a thorough discussion. Following deliberation, the Council voted unanimously to keep the market at its current location at City Park on Pearl Street. The Council directed staff to come back to the 04/14/26 meeting with an updated one-year licensing agreement for the market, to include the market coordinator being registered as a legal entity to do business as the Geneseo Farmer’s Market.
•The Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) is planning ADA-compliant sidewalk improvements at pedestrian intersections along its State routes through Geneseo, including Main Street and Oakwood Avenue. According to IDOT, the project is expected to go out for bid in July, with construction anticipated to take place this fall.
•Loretta Hohenboken has submitted a facade improvement grant application for the Best Travel building, located at 204 S. State Street within the Downtown TIF District. The proposal includes installation of a new awning by Midwest Awnings, Inc., at a cost of $5,550.25. Under the terms of the facade improvement grant program, the applicant would be eligible for reimbursement of $2,775.13 upon proof of project completion and final payment.
•Surplus Sale. The City will be selling a 2014 IHC 4300 Bucket Truck and a 2013 Ford Explorer.
