TV50 will mark the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks Friday by replaying approximately four hours of local television news coverage from Sept. 11, 2001, in real time beginning at 7:45 a.m.
The rebroadcast will allow viewers to experience the coverage much as it unfolded that morning, as local news organizations reported on a rapidly changing story that would become one of the defining events in American history.
TV50 plans to air the original coverage without minimizing or rewriting difficult portions of the broadcast. The station says the presentation is intended both for those who remember watching the events unfold and as an educational opportunity for younger viewers who were not yet born or were too young to remember.
The replay begins Friday at 7:45 a.m. on TV50 and will continue until approximately noon.
