Anyone looking for some adventures in Illinois is encouraged to attend the program at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 18, at the Geneseo Public Library titled “What is there to do in Illinois that’s fun and won’t break the bank?”
Author Melanie Homes answers the question. She has researched hot spots in entertainment, arts, food, parks, culture, history, sports and even geology, and she has tips for day jaunts, weekend trips and weeklong excursions, all just a road trip away!
In addition to sharing her tips on traveling, Holmes also will present a segment titled “Windshield Travel,” for those with physical challenges. For all those who want to know, her book “100 Things to Do in Illinois Before You Die“ holds the answer!”
Holmes is an award-winning author, speaker, and lifelong travel enthusiast. Her previous four books were on history, diversity, art and family.
Born and raised in rural northeast Illinois, she credits her mother with introducing her to the joy of the open road. She acknowledges her husband with helping her to collect three more decades of new travel episodes.
