Ray Bergles & Eleanor Bertelsen
Geneseo, IL - he Geneseo Kiwanis Club recently gave the annual Clarence Henson Award to GHS Key Club member Eleanor Bertelsen. Eleanor, a junior, was elected District Governor at the February Illinois-Eastern Iowa Key Club Convention. She is only the 2nd Key Club member to be voted Governor in the 35 years GHS has had a Key Club. Eleanor will serve through March 2027 and is attending the International Key Club Convention next month in Dallas to represent the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District. The Henson Award is given annually to the GHS Key Club member that has been the most active and effective member of the local club. Clarence Henson founded the GHS Key Club along with Tony Simon.
Ray Bergles & Mahi Patel
The annual Tony Simon Scholarship was also given to GHS senior Mahi Patel. She was the Key Club Secretary this past school year and participated in all of the various service projects Key Club performed (and several Kiwanis projects, too). Mahi will attend the University of Illinois Chicago this fall, majoring in pre-law.
