On Friday, April 10, 2026, at approximately 4:33 PM, a 911 call was received indicating there was a stabbing outside of 100 Bestor Drive with a female victim and a male suspect.

Due to the efforts of the most recent donations collected by the Geneseo Community Chest in its 2024-2025 fiscal year, $111,000 was distributed to various organizations in our community.

  Jean Soria has been named Volunteer of the Month at the Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry, where she has been a volunteer for six months, and her responsibilities include helping guests in the food room and sorting donations. 

Tim Atwell, athletic director at Kewanee High School, recently was named “Class 1A & 2A State Athletic Director of the Year” by the Illinois Athletic Directors Association (IADA).

The Geneseo Middle School On the Same Page (OSP) community-wide reading team is hosting a community “Tackle ALS” event on Saturday, April 11. 

In an effort to capture the personalities and charms of communities in Illinois, John Lynn began a 40-year continuing project called “Main Street, Illinois.”

The program is from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in the Geneseo Community Center Activity Room, 541 East North St., Geneseo.  Dr. Ryan Pizinger, Orthopedic Surgeon, Hammond-Henry Hospital Specialty Clinic, will present the program on “Hips and Knees.” 

It was a goal of Bee Scheider’s to complete all of the high scouting awards from bronze to gold, and that goal was accomplished with the raised garden beds in place at the Geneseo-Atkinson Food Pantry.

Hammond-Henry Hospital, located at 600 N. College Avenue in Geneseo, is constructing an outbuilding on the north side of the property in direct response to the need for temporary medical student and physician housing, garage bays, and additional storage.

Following the Committee Meeting held on the evening of March 24, 2026, the City of Geneseo is pleased to announce that the City Council has provided formal direction to maintain the Geneseo Farmer’s Market at its current location on Pearl Street in the City Park.

Opioid overdoses can happen anywhere – at home, at work, or in public spaces, and knowing what to do can save a life.  The Geneseo Public Library, and the Robert Young Center, have teamed up to offer a free program at 2 p.m. on Monday, March 30, to help people understand more about the drug overdose epidemic.

Hammond-Henry Hospital has introduced a new educational support initiative, SPARK, designed to help future healthcare professionals graduate without student-debt while securing guaranteed employment.
