QCCA Feb Outdoor Show
Put this down on your calendar that the QCCA Fishing, Hunting and Outdoor Adventure Show will be held on February 12 – 15, 2026, at the Rock Island, IL, Expo Center. Show hours are Thursday, Feb 12th from 4-8 p.m. (set-up time for vendors), Friday, Feb 13, 10 a.m. – 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb 14, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., and Sunday, Feb 15, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. No firearms or ammo allowed.
Shed Antlers
If you’re into venturing into the jungle looking for whitetail antlers now might be a good time to do so. I have one set, but it was from a buck I shot some years ago.
Truisms
A goldfish has a memory of 3 seconds. For me, about 30 seconds! A “jiffy” is an actual unit of time for 1/100 of a second. That’s about as much time you should take reading this column!!! I tried being a musician, but I found I wasn’t noteworthy. After that I worked for a short time in a muffler factory. I didn’t like it as it was just too exhausting.

So, don’t blame me for the following. 1) “Doctor, I’ve swallowed a spoon and need to get it out.” My good doctor said, “All right. Just sit down and don’t stir.” 2) Dale built a snowman in his front yard, but it lost weight fast as the pounds just “melted away.”! 3) He told me that when he’s stressed he likes to iron clothes. I guess it’s a great way to let off “steam.” 4) Dale told me his son, Brian Kiser, recently went on a ski trip. He started off great, but after hitting a tree it was all “downhill” from there.
Just Once
1) I’d like to see Chuck Schumer use bifocal glasses. 2) Please, on some comedy shows, knock off the fake, canned laughter. 3) Geez, I’d like to go at least 3 or 4 months without having to see a doctor. 4) How about a TV camera person show more than 2 seconds of the band at a sporting event. 5) We need more That Midwestern Mom as seen on the Internet.
‘Da Bears
No matter how the Bears end up with or without a victory over the Rams, they sure gave us a heck of a season. Personally, my Super Bowl was beating the Packers and not only once, but twice! Thanks, Chicago Bears! ‘Yer Awesome!!!!
Humor
Galva’s Dale Collis, asked me the other day how does one find a spider on the Internet? I told him to check out his website. He had one more question. “What do you call a cat that just ate a bird?” I said, “An after-dinner tweet!” Dale used to hunt deer and one time he saw a deer with no eyes. He asked me what do you call such a deer? I just shrugged and answered, “No-eye deer.”
