If you were one of the fans at Bob Reade Field on Friday, August 28th, you may have had flashbacks to the first round playoff game last season.

Yes, that playoff game where the Maple Leafs kicked a field goal as time expired to advance to the second round of the IHSA playoffs.

Last night’s game didn’t disappoint. The Green Machine led 20-7 at intermission. But the Hubs weren’t done.

Rochelle scored fourteen of their twenty-one points in the second half earning their second lead of the game, 21-20.

But, on a night full of tradition, a night where the green helmets looked new again, the Green Machine did what the Green Machine does. They put the ball into the end zone with less than two minutes remaining.

With less than a minute left, Keaton Ariano intercepts a pass and the offense takes over in victory formation. The Maple Leafs are 2-0 to start the season.
