LOMBARD, IL — The Geneseo Green Machine saw its football season come to an end Saturday, Oct. 31, falling 35–12 to defending Class 4A state champion Montini Catholic.

Montini established an early advantage, taking a 7–0 lead after the first quarter before adding 14 points in the second. Geneseo responded with nine points before halftime, including a 39-yard field goal as time expired, but entered the break trailing 21–9.

The Broncos maintained control in the second half, scoring touchdowns in both the third and fourth quarters while limiting the Green Machine to a field goal.

Montini quarterback Israel Abrams helped lead the Broncos' offense, completing 12 of 16 passes for 154 yards while rushing for 59 yards and three touchdowns. The Broncos finished with 222 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns.

Geneseo's Cyrus Babcock found the end zone for the Green Machine, but the Leafs struggled to sustain offensive momentum against Montini's defense.

The Leafs had an opportunity to move deeper into Montini territory early in the third quarter, but the Broncos' defense delivered key stops to halt the drive. Montini also recorded two interceptions in the fourth quarter to help secure the victory.

Despite Saturday's loss, Geneseo closed its season with a postseason appearance that included a commanding 42–14 victory over North Chicago the previous weekend.
