GENESEO — The Green Machine won in convincing fashion Friday night, defeating Galesburg 58-23 at Bob Reade Field.

The 58 points marked a season high for Geneseo, surpassing the 47 scored in its victory over Rock Island earlier this month. The win improved the Green Machine to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play.

The Green Machine limited a Galesburg offense that had scored 56 points the previous week and entered Friday averaging more than 40 points per contest.

The Leafs set the tone with a physical defensive effort, consistently getting to the football and capitalizing when opportunities presented. The Green Machine forced mistakes and recovered three Galesburg fumbles in the first half alone, helping Geneseo take control of the game.

Geneseo entered Friday looking to rebound from a pair of consecutive conference losses. The Green Machine responded with its largest offensive output and largest margin of victory of the season.
