The Maple Leafs picked up a couple victories on the week sandwiched around a date with back to back defending state champion Joliet Catholic. AJ Weller smacked a 1st inning homer on the way to a Leaf 3-2 victory over visiting Abingdon-Avon on Tuesday May 7 at Stone Field. State champ JCA awaited the following day in Joliet where the host Hilltoppers jumped out to a 6-1 lead through four and held off GHS for a 6-3 win. The Leafs bounced back on Thursday at Stone Field as Weller and Connor Mitchell combined for eight hits and five RBI in the Leafs 11-1 win over Riverdale.
