Geneseo Current
A variety of art work by Greg Dickinson, Clinton, Iowa, currently is featured at the RutabagA Art Gallery, 108 North State St. in downtown Geneseo.
More than 70 of Dickinson’s works will be on display through September 27 at RutabagA, which is open from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday through Saturday. During the Trains, Planes and Automobile event on Saturday, Sept. 6, in Geneseo, gallery members will hand out Oreo cookies, (a limited number) in honor of the display.
The artist’s work reflects inspiration from Andy Warhol’s Pop Style, and features various takes on the Oreo cookie. In addition, the artist captures various news anchors on their broadcasts.
Dickinson, a member of RutabagA Art, earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Art from Mount Mercy College, (now University) in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He has completed murals at the college and in Clinton, and has been involved in the Quad City art scene since 1984. Some of his “cookie” paintings were exhibited in a group show at NABISCO’s world headquarters art gallery in 1997 in New Jersey.
