The Geneseo High School Thespians recently held their end-of-school year event to initiate new members and present Thespian cords to graduating seniors.

The Thespians is an organization that honors GHS students who have been involved in any or all of these activities: Fall Play, Madrigal, Individual Events Speech and Spring Musical.

The organization originally was under the charge of the late Harvey Green and currently is under the direction of Larry Lord and Joe DePauw.

DePauw said any student involved in those activities can join The Thespians…”At that point, records are kept as students accumulate points and there is a system of how points are awarded. Each point reflects approximately 10 hours of work in the designated activities.”

When a student has accumulated a minimum of 10 points, (about 100 hours) of work, they are invited to join the “Educational Theatre Association/International Thespian Society.” Those who choose to join are celebrated at a banquet and induction ceremony. AT the induction, they receive a certificate from the Society. At that induction, senior members also receive cords to wear at graduation.

Members of the GHS Thespians include Alex Belanger, Isaac Betcher, Josephina Bull, Reagan Chambers, Addison Jorgensen, Joseph Mroz, Josie Peters, Megan Plumley, Alyx Rick, Grace Schilling, Madison Skelton, Alex Slaymaker, Raelyn Bjorkman, Sophia Clifton, Taylor Davis, Olivia Diericks, Laney Dunker, Quinnland Einfeldt, Perry Farley, Allyson Ford, Tyler Gehl, Alyssa Gentry, Imogene Greene, Isabella Haney, Bryce Henderson, Kaye Hogue, Sydney Hoover, Sarah Lawrence, Elizabeth Mroz, Carleigh Norton, Madison Ochs, Sabrina Ochs, Braeden Possin, Annabella Ropp, Kara Sancken, Shay Schehl, Logan VanDeWoestyne and Samantha Watters.
