Aisle of Flags Monument to be Dedicated Today in Geneseo’s New City Park – By Claudia Loucks

The Geneseo community is invited to today’s dedication of the Aisle of Flags Monument located in the northeast corner of the New City Park, on East North St.

The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m. with the Rev. Laura Kamprath, pastor at First Lutheran Church in Geneseo, and Angie Snook, curator of the Geneseo Historical Museum, as speakers.

The dedication is being held in conjunction with an ice cream social hosted by Geneseo Communications with proceeds to benefit the Aisle of Flags. The ice cream social is scheduled to begin after the dedication of the monument.

Today, June 6, is also the anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944, when more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline to fight Nazi Germany of the beaches of Normandy, France.
