On March 14th, two Special Olympics basketball athletes from Inspire Continuing Care competed in the 2026 Special Olympics of Illinois State Basketball Skills Competition in Normal, IL. Rachel Rice (age 28) and Christian Laingen (age 33) qualified for the State competition based on their results at the Region F competition on January 25th in Moline, IL. Coach Lori Gilmore prepared the ICC athletes for competition with the assistance of ICC staff members.
Uniquely qualified adults in the Geneseo area are welcome to join the ICC Special Olympics team, even if they do not regularly attend Inspire Continuing Care. Special Olympics sports in which ICC currently participates include: basketball, track/field and bowling.
