Friends and family members of the late Fred Magerkurth are invited to attend a Dedication Memorial for Magerkurth at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 13, at the Geneseo Historical Museum Carriage House, the building located in back of the museum.

The Dedication Memorial is hosted by the Harold Neumann Project and the Museum.

Magerkurth, who died June 7, 2025, was a founding member of the Harold Neumann Project with the Museum Exhibit on aviation and Harold Neumann.

A large evergreen topiary, planted outside the carriage house, will be dedicated Saturday in memory of Magerkurth.

Melanie Rice, Director/Curator of the Geneseo Historical Museum, commented about Magerkurth, “Every organization has individuals whose dedication helps transform an idea into something lasting. Mr. Magerkurth played a vital role in shaping the mission of the Harold Neumann Project. His stories of Harold were told with respect and love. “

Harold Neumann, described as a farm boy from Geneseo, was an aviation pioneer during the Golden Age of Flying.  He died July 5, 1995, at the age of 89.  A “Harold Neumann” mural is painted on the north side of the Mel Foster office building on State St. in downtown Geneseo.
