A 10-year-old girl from Geneseo died following a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Laclede County, Missouri, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 1:04 p.m. on July 24 at the intersection of Missouri Highway 5 and Orchard Drive, north of Lebanon.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 2023 GMC Terrain traveling south on Highway 5 turned onto the roadway and into the path of a northbound 2022 Hyundai Venue. Troopers said the Hyundai struck the GMC before crossing the roadway and colliding with a southbound 2014 Toyota Prius.
The 10-year-old girl was a passenger in the Hyundai. She was flown by Mercy Life Flight to Mercy Hospital in Springfield, where she later died from her injuries. The Highway Patrol reported that she was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Hyundai, a 34-year-old Geneseo man, suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Lake Regional Hospital in Camdenton.
The driver of the GMC, a 76-year-old Lebanon, Missouri, woman, and the driver of the Toyota, a 71-year-old Columbia, Missouri, woman, both sustained moderate injuries and were transported to area hospitals by ambulance.
According to the crash report, all occupants involved were wearing seat belts.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol said next of kin have been notified. The crash remains under investigation.
