Concordia Lutheran Academy is expanding for the 2023-2024 school year. An Open House and K-2 Roundup will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 30, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 316 South Oakwood Ave., Geneseo.
Information about Classical Education and the upcoming school year will be shared by Marilyn Brondos, kindergarten teacher. Current kindergarten students also will give a brief presentation about some of what they have learned. Members of the Concordia Board of Education also will be at the event to answer questions. Prospective and interested students and families are invited as well as interested members of the community.
Beginning with the 2023-2024 school year, Concordia Lutheran Academy (CLA) is expanding to offer kindergarten through second grade classes.
Stephanie Prochaska, Creation Committee member, said, “Our Preschool has been faithfully serving our community for over 20 years. Opening CLA with kindergarten last year grew naturally from the desire to continue this service. We’re thankful for the strong support from our congregation, and the support from our community, which is making the expansion of adding first and second grades. We’re excited for the next school year!
She added that as the committee looks to the future, plans are to build the school one or two grades at a time to best support its students and teachers.
Rev. Mueller shared that Classical Lutheran education can be defined as the seven liberal arts with Lutheran catechesis. The liberal arts cultivate the student’s mind and character with formative academic content and tools for learning. Lutheran catechesis instructs and nurtures matters of the soul through the Holy Scriptures, and the Lutheran confessions.
The CLA mission statement is to provide academic excellence through a classical Lutheran Education in a Christ-centered environment and develop lifelong learners, Biblically sound critical thinkers, and community leaders that serve with humility, gratitude, and grace.
To help fund the costs of the school, the Concordia Lutheran Academy Creation Committee has been planning fundraisers…On Saturday, June 10; they will host a Golf Outing at Sugar Maple Golf Club in Geneseo.
Kris Anderson, Creation Committee member, said, “We are thankful for the opportunity to have Sugar Maple host our first event and Mike Bellovics has been extremely helpful by assisting us in planning a successful fundraiser. We’re excited to be able to offer golfers of all levels this opportunity to have fun, win prizes, and support our school.”
Cost of the golf outing is $160 per duo of golfers which includes 18 holes of golf, cart rental, two event shirts, lunch for two, and two drink tickets. Advance registration is available at golf.geneseolutheranchurch.com.
The Rev. Stephen Mueller, pastor at Concordia Lutheran Church, said, “After a successful year of kindergarten, Concordia Lutheran Academy is looking forward to the future in Geneseo. We are blessed to be able to teach students of our community facts and figures, critical thinking skills and memorization, all while instilling the Word of God and love of Jesus Christ. We teach our students not only to read, but to be well-read.”
Registration is open for the 2023-2024 school year and additional information and questions regarding registration materials, are available by contacting the church office at 309-944-3993 or by email Concordia@geneseolutheranchurch.com
