Geneseo High School students received a warm welcome on their first day back at school on Wednesday!

In addition to many “welcoming” signs displayed outside and inside, some students walked through fog (provided by staff operating a fog machine) when entering the building.

Once inside the doors, students were greeted by staff as they made their way to the welcome tables by walking on the red carpet.

The event was planned by the GHS Spirit Committee which is made up of teachers and staff who volunteered their time to plan the “welcoming ideas.” Students involved in Link Crew at GHS handed out bottles of water and snacks to students. Tables in the entry way also contained maps of the school and a master list of activities and clubs and the staff members who sponsor those activities.

The snacks were provided by Dollar Fresh, Fareway and Blain’s Farm & Fleet in Geneseo.

GHS Principal Tom Ryerson commented on the event and said, “Students and staff loved the welcoming ideas. They especially talked a lot about the fog machine entrance and the help the Link Crew students provided them throughout the day.”
