GENESEO — Downtown Geneseo will be filled with Halloween activities, shopping, entertainment and a business grand opening on Thursday, October 22, as local businesses and the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce invite residents to enjoy an evening downtown.

The main attraction is Witches, Brews & Boos, a Halloween-themed event presented by the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce. Activities are scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m., with participating businesses offering shopping, seasonal refreshments, specials and other attractions.

Visitors are encouraged to wear costumes, gather friends and explore downtown businesses as State Street takes on a Halloween atmosphere.

“Witches, Brews & Boos is a chance to enjoy the Halloween spirit, explore our local shops, grab a seasonal drink, and spend time with friends and family,” says Geneseo Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lindsie Akers. “We encourage everyone to put on their favorite witch hat or costume and join us for a little spooky fun!”

Among the featured activities are tarot card readings at Katsch Boutique from 3 to 7 p.m. and appearances by the Sanderson Sisters, who will be wandering State Street during the same hours.

A costume contest will also take place, with participants invited to enter the Best Witch competition at Designs on the Boulevard between 3 and 7 p.m.

Participating downtown businesses include Raelyn's Pub & Eatery, Gaslight Grocer & Wine Bar, Katsch Boutique, Central Theater, The Ugly Duckling, Sweet Maries, Geneseo Brewing Co., Village Florist, Four Seasons, Smith Studio & Gallery, Reap and Sow, Designs on the Boulevard, Urban Farmhouse, Pegasus Fine Gifts, Anthology for Books, and Village Home Stores. A Spotted Apron is also participating from its location at 12727 Wolf Road.

The evening will feature opportunities for shopping, dining, seasonal drinks, and Halloween-themed specials throughout the downtown area.

Another event scheduled for Thursday is the grand opening and ribbon cutting for CMC Resources, a locally owned business founded by Christine and Mark Clementz.

The company has relocated to a new office above The Cellar in downtown Geneseo. The Geneseo Chamber of Commerce will celebrate the move with a grand opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m.

Community members are invited to visit the new location, tour the office and meet the CMC Resources team.

For those looking to continue the evening after downtown activities conclude, Central Theater will present a screening of Verity at 7:10 p.m. Tickets are $5.

Thursday's activities offer residents an opportunity to support Geneseo businesses while enjoying seasonal entertainment and celebrating a new downtown location.

With Halloween activities beginning at 3 p.m., the CMC Resources ribbon cutting at 4 p.m. and the evening movie at Central Theater, visitors can participate in several events during a single trip downtown.

Additional information about Witches, Brews & Boos and participating businesses is available through the Geneseo Chamber of Commerce.
