53rd Geneseo Boy Scout Troop 100 Breakfast

53rd Geneseo Boy Scout Troop 100 Breakfast

This nice event will be on Sunday, February 15th, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It will be held at the Geneseo Moose Lodge. The pancakes “all you can eat” breakfast includes pancakes, sausage, fruit, eggs, orange juice, milk and coffee. It’s all available while supplies last and hopefully Dale Doubler, Keith Vandewestyne and Grant Hatch don’t go back through the line “4 times.” To be serious, make sure you write the event date on your calendar. The cost is only $7.00 per person with kids age 5 and under free. Lastly, keep in mind that all proceeds stay local which enables scouts to continue learning and expanding their scouting opportunities.

What does February bring?

On Feb. 14th is Valentine’s Day followed up by Feb. 16th, Presidents’ Day and Ash Wednesday, Feb 18th. Let’s hope Mother Nature treats us nicely with little or no snow‘n ice. Although farmers may need the moisture for their fields. Two-way street, I guess!

16 Years

This month marks that many years I wrote monthly columns (Short Shots, Small Catches and Outdoors and More) for the outdoor publication, Midwest Outdoors. This month also marks the end of my writing the columns. It was just time to move on. When it becomes a chore and not fun anymore then it’s time to let some other writer take the reins. I will say the money was nice, but we won’t starve. Anyway, if you enjoy reading about the great outdoors like fishing and hunting, subscribe to this publication. Make sure you ask for the Illinois section, too. I continue writing the weekly, Dan D Outdoors, in the GeneseoCurrent.com.

Geneseo Kiwanis Club

I thought I’d put a plug in for this club I belong to. It was chartered in 1920 and has served the community with concentration on helping children for 105 years. We meet on every Tuesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Geneseo Community Center. We also have a catered meal which is always excellent. At every meeting we have a guest speaker. We have several fund raisers such as Peanut Days, Pancake Breakfast, Bowl-a-thon, Fareway cook-out and Pork in the Park on July 4th. We also provide grants for community organizations. It’s a fine organization of men and women dedicated to helping the children of the world and the local community. There is so much more, so seek out a fellow Kiwanian and you could be a guest some Tuesday.

Humor

Another series of Dale Kiser jokes (sorry): 1) A book I was reaching for at the library fell on my head. I only have myshelf to blame. 2) I always wanted to be a monk, but l never got the chants. 3) This one’s for Brian Kiser: What instrument is found in everyone’s bathroom? Ans: A “tuba” toothpaste.
