Geneseo Current
Congratulations Abigail & Kenneth Wolf of Geneseo
These two brother and sister won the Baking Competition on the Food Network. They were the guest speakers at the Geneseo Kiwanis Club meeting on Tuesday, May 5, 2026. They gave an excellent presentation and afterwards fielded lots of question from the audience. These two siblings talked on how they managed to be selected on the popular TV show. They were really expert in the field of baking and it was no wonder they won first prize. Both the kids had a great sense of humor. Abigail at age 14 has already started her own business, Lemon Drop Bakery by Abigail. Brother Kenneth is a few years younger, but like his sister, he has a bright future ahead.

Deer like Flowers
After a recent trip to Natures Creations Nursery in Kewanee we planted our beautiful geraniums. And so, last night some deer enjoined the fruit of our labor and ate all $50.00 worth of the geraniums. “Thanks, Bambi.”
Baltimore Oriole
We had our first Oriole visit our Oriole feeder this afternoon. They love grape jelly, but I notice some other birds like jelly, too! Last week we did have a hummer “scout” our hummingbird feeder, but still no more sightings since.
Garden
We “finally” got our tomato plants, planted! Last year we planted 25, but this year we went with 19. Now if some critter(s) leave ‘em alone we’ll be in good shape. We worked very hard this spring and I just don’t know how we can continue with all the work. Our health is a problem for sure. Still, we enjoy the flowers and vegetables.
Humor
Are you up for a little of Dale Kiser jokes? We’ll give it a try!
1) Learning how to collect litter wasn’t all that hard. I just “Picked it up” as I went along.
2) I asked Lorna if she is adding too much soil to our garden? She just shrugged and said “Ah, the plot thickens!”
3) “Good morning, Justin!” “Dad, that’s not my name.” “Well, today you’re just in time for breakfast”
