GHS exploded for twelve 1st inning runs in a 25-0 demolishing of Alleman on Tuesday at Stone Field. AJ Weller and Kale Whitaker each had three hits and combined with Neal Gaskey drove in eleven of the Leafs 25 runs. Gaskey along with Alex Moe gave up only two hits and struck out six in the win.
The Leafs kept it going back on Stone Field the following day with a 11-6 senior night win over Erie-Prophetstown. Whitaker and Kolten Schmoll-Burton each drove in two in the victory.
GHS wrapped up their third home game in a three day stretch with a quick 15-0 shutout of Mercer County. Connor Mitchell went 3-3 with two doubles, three runs driven in, and three runs scored. Reade Murphy gave up just two hits while striking out four.
UTHS came to Stone Field for Saturday doubleheader and broke a 2-2 tie in the top of the 7th to pave their way to a 4-2 victory. In game two, the Leafs jumped out to a 4-0 lead but the visiting Panthers rallied to tie it up in the 5th before going on to win 5-4 in eight innings. Next Up: At Kewanee on Tuesday (4:30pm).
