STERLING — The Geneseo boys golf team finished seventh Saturday at the 55th annual Sterling Invitational at Emerald Hill Golf Course, posting a team score of 362.

Sophomore Gavin Davis led the Maple Leafs with an 89. Kellen Vankerrebroeck followed with a 90, Kain Stroud shot 91 and Jaxon Ernst added a 92 to complete Geneseo's four counting scores.

Trace Hager finished with a 93 and Sage Windisch shot 95, giving Geneseo a balanced day with all six golfers finishing within six strokes of one another.

Sycamore won the 12-team tournament with a 310. Maple Park Kaneland and Rochelle tied for second at 315, while Geneseo finished ahead of Rock Island, Sterling, Sherrard, Kewanee and United Township.
