Geneseo Jr. Leafs Host Memorial Day Baseball Classic

There will be a lot of visitors in Geneseo this weekend. They’re here because the Geneseo Jr. Leafs will host their Memorial Day Baseball Classic on Saturday and Sunday. According to Nate Brown of Geneseo Jr. Leafs, there will be 60 teams visiting from around the region, including teams from Peoria, Sterling, Dixon, LaSalle, Princeton, Kewanee, Monmouth, and the Quad City area.

Geneseo Jr. Leafs will field 9 teams this weekend(for a grand total of 69) and will range from the 8u to 13u age group.

Games will be played at Bollen Field, John F. Edwards Complex, and Richmond Hill. Admission is free and there will be concessions at all three facilities. Pork chops, hot dogs, and hamburgers are some of the goodies that will be available.

Brown said, “Our goal is to provide the high school with fundamentally sound players with a strong acumen for the game. In 2022, we have 10 teams with approximately 120 kids in the system.”

Come and see some great baseball by our future Maple Leafs this weekend.
