STERLING — The Green Machine came up just short Friday night, falling to Sterling 34-31 in a rivalry conference matchup.

The three-point loss dropped Geneseo to 4-3 overall and 2-3 in conference play. Sterling improved to 6-1 overall and remained unbeaten in the Western Big 6 at 4-0.

The loss followed Geneseo’s 58-23 victory over Galesburg the previous week and marked the Geneseo’s third conference loss of the season.
